Installing ReplicaMD
What you need before you start, and how to get set up. It's short.
What you need first
ReplicaMD is a desktop app that works inside your own folders and runs the coding tools you already use. So before you start, two things should be on your machine: Git, and at least one AI coding tool for the agents to run.
You don't have to install every provider - one is enough to get going. You can always add more later.
- Git (any recent version)
- A folder or repository you want to work in
- At least one AI tool: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, OpenCode, or Ollama for local models
Getting the app
ReplicaMD v2.0.2 is available for Linux from the official Replica.MD-releases repository. The download page links directly to its AppImage, Debian/Ubuntu, and Arch Linux assets.
Windows and macOS installers are not part of the current release. Do not use installers from unofficial mirrors.
ReplicaMD will never ask you to paste an API key or password into this website. Signing in to a provider always happens in the provider's own tool, on your machine.
